Wigwam Socks

It was 1905, just five years into a new century. Theodore Roosevelt was president, Orville and Wilbur Wright successfully experimented with flight yet again--twenty four miles in thirty eight minutes and three seconds--and the New York Giants won the 5th annual World Series.
A thousand or so miles west, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Herbert Chesebro and the Hand Knit Hosiery Company manufactured heavy woolen work socks and liner mittens for lumbermen. An enterprise that began on January 17 of that year and continues to this day, but under a shorter and, thankfully, more colorful name - Wigwam.
